LOVELY LOCKS

The busy morning activities of a missionary don't leave much time to spend on appearance. Luckily, there are many easy hairstyles that can be done in minutes and look professional and cute.

1. Basic Front Twist

The simplest of hairstyles is the basic front twist.

1. Starting at your part, take two pieces of hair, one directly in front of the other.

2. Twist the bottom piece around so your original top piece is now on the bottom.

3. Using the new bottom piece, gather more hair and twist it around the top piece.

4. Continue twisting until you reach your temple.

5. Begin to twist towards the crown of your head, but this time without adding more hair to each piece.

6. When you reach the crown, move the twisted braid to the hand that is on the same side as the braid.

7. Use your opposite hand to pull a piece of hair from the other side of your hair.

8. Secure the hair with a plastic band.

2. Wrap-Around Braid

This style is easier than it looks if you know how to french and dutch braid. It is also very cute!

1. Begin with dry, natural hair.

2. Begin to dutch braid down the right side of the hair.

3. Stop adding hair once you reach the temple.

4. Continue to braid across the back of the head, but this time without adding extra hair.

5. Gently tug on pieces of the braid to make it appear larger.

6. Secure the braid with a bobby pin.

7. Repeat with a dutch braid on the left side.

8. Wrap the left braid so it sits above the right braid.

9. Tuck the hair from the left braid underneath the right braid.

10. Secure with bobby pins.

3. Twisted Fishtail Braid

This style is great for keeping your hair out of your face while still looking cute!

1. Take a piece of hair at your left temple and twist it to the back of your head, just below the crown.

2. Repeat on the right side.

3. Secure both twists with a plastic band.

4. Lift the twists so there is a hole to flip your hair through.

5. Pull the hair through the hole and tighten the twists.

6. Tie a small plastic band below the twists to form a ponytail.

7. Pull the ponytail so the second plastic band lies just below the first.

8. Tie a third plastic band below the second, leaving some hair out.

9. Pull the ponytail so all three plastic bands lie close together.

10. Braid the remaining hair into a fishtail braid.

11. Gently pull on the pieces of the braid so they fan out.

4. Basic Top Knot

This is the perfect last-minute hairstyle if you are running late.

1. Pull your hair into a ponytail at the crown of your head.

2. Secure the ponytail with one hand while twisting it with the other.

3. Use one hand to hold the hair in place while the other twists the hair into a cinnamon roll-shaped knot.

4. Wrap an elastic band around the hair.

5. Secure the hair with bobby pins and spray.

5. Fishtail Bun

This style takes a little bit more time, but it is very cute for a conference or some other special occasion.

1. Take a large piece of hair at the top of the head, beginning directly beside the part.

2. Begin a french fishtail braid.

3. Continue braiding down the side of the head.

4. As you go, secure the braid with bobby pins.

5. Using only half of your hair, braid until you reach the end.

6. Gently pull out pieces of the braid so they fan out.

7. Repeat on the other side.

8. Secure both braids with a plastic band.

9. Wrap the hair loosely around the back of the head and secure with bobby pins.

6. Tuck and Cover French Braid

This is a great style for getting your hair out of your face.

1. Begin by placing a headband comfortably near the front of your head.

2. Take a small piece of hair at the front of your head, right next to the part.

3. Do a basic front twist down the side of the head.

4. Tuck the twist underneath the headband, pulling until it is secure.

5. Pull other pieces of hair and tuck them into the headband.

6. Repeat this tucking pattern on the other side of the head.

7. Tuck the middle section of hair into the headband and secure with bobby pins.

8. Secure any loose pieces of hair and spray.
